Intention: The Forgotten Emergency!!!

Sincere intention has become a forgotten emergency.

The hadith on the strength of Abu Hafs,'Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) recorded by Imam-l-hafidh Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ismael bin Ibrahim bin Mughirah Al-Bukhari in his famous Sahihul Bukhari encapsulates the reality of intention in the life of a believer.

Our Master, Muhammd bin Abdullah (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended……"

The nobility of intention takes us closer to Allaah more than we ever could have imagined.

Islam is vocal and vociferous in molding the soul of its adherents by constantly echoing the message of the importance of keeping good intention and also to honor our words whether we give them to Muslims or non-Muslims.

A contamination in our intention leads to severe consequences and unwanted circumstances.

According to the strength of our intention, Allaah unfolds our future. Noble intention begets noble life, contaminated intention begets unfulfilled desires.

Hafidh Ibn Qayyim (RA) said: "The good thing about good deeds apart from reward is that good begets good." In essence one good deed leads to another and undoubtedly nobility of intention is one of the greatest righteous deeds.

I relate to you a real life story relevant to the topic. A man listened to a talk on charity and instantly he aspires to give in charity to reap the multiple benefits of it such as averting the Anger of Allaah and also preventing accidents.

Moments after he hit someone on a highway and he pulled over and rushed the victim to a nearby clinic. After the victim was treated and resuscitated, Allaah now unfolds the future in relation to the intention the man has of wanting to give in charity.

Allaah made it easy for him to give all he has on him to the patients admitted in the clinic.

I said, when we analyze the situation with a material eye, the accident was a setback for he's got a partially damaged car but employing the spiritual eye, we all come to the realization that the accident wasn't actually a set back, but by Allaah, it was boon. Allaah Alone Knows what graver calamities have been averted for him.

Good intention materializes in different ways, Hence, if your intentions are clean, a fire outbreak, a loss in property, any calamity that befalls you will turn out to be a boon and blessing. This is the height a good intention can take us to.

We will endure all the difficulties on the path of Allaah but if our intention is not noble, no reward shall be given to us.

We pray to Allaah to inspire us with noble intention coupled with good deeds.

  1. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu, my dear brother in Islam. One of the good deeds that keeps sending rewards after ones death is what you have just started.I pray to ALLAH SWT to help you to continue this act to the end of your life. The prophet said its not what you are doing but what you end up at, so may ALLAH SWT give you a longer life and enrich you with more beneficial knowledge to impart to posterity. Ameeeeen. Bro. Isa Nuhu Ahmed.
