Why The Rush???

In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Allaah says in His inimitable style that: "Verily, man was created very impatient; Apprehensive when evil touches him; And suppressive when good touches him; EXCEPT THOSE WHO ARE DEVOTED TO SALAH; THOSE WHO WITH THEIR SALAH ARE DA'IMUN" Q 90: 19-23
With all the blameworthy features man has been described with, Allaah makes an exception in those who guard strictly their Salah with tranquility and humility.

Ibn Katheer unpacked the meaning of Da'imun to equate the terminology used in describing standing (still) water (Al-Ma' Ad-Da'im) and this points to the obligation of having tranquility in the prayer.

If we rush our prayers then we do not in any way fit into the description of the believers given by Allaah in Q23 when He says: "Successful indeed are the believers. Those who with their Salah are Khashi'un."

I sob profusely (internally) when we complain about the Imam spending much time in conversing with Allaah. And I ask the question; what has happened to our Iman?

Ibn al-Qayyim (RA) in his kitaab Zaad al-Ma'aad vol. 1/257, 258 he said: "The one who is praying is facing his Lord and conversing with Him so long as he is praying. When he says Salaam that conversation comes to a close and he is no longer standing before Him and close to Him.

Who amongst us will rush to finish a grand meeting organised for us by the President of the nation??? I guess we will maximize our stay with him but alas! When it comes to the meeting arranged for us by Allaah five times a day to converse personally with Him we feel bored and hasty.‎
Five minutes! At most, ten minutes you are done with a sound and beautiful prayer and a painless conversation with Allaah Who is ever ready to answer your supplication yet you rush your Salah for a miserable pursuit?‎

Today our Salah is so handicapped that the best I can use to describe it is: "Up-Down-Kiss-the-Ground-And-Back-To-Town.

Hear this out! Allaah says: "So, woe unto those performers of Salah, Those who with their Salah are Sahun." Q107:4-5‎

Those are the likes of most of us today who pray, adhere to it yet are mindless of it.

In the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) it was reported that the Messenger of Allaah said: "This is the prayer of the hypocrite, this is the prayer of the hypocrite, this is the prayer of the hypocrite. He sits watching the sun until it is between the two horns of Shaytan. Then he stands and pecks four (Rak'ahs) and does not remember Allaah (in them) except very little."

Brothers and sisters in Islam haven't you heard the statement of the Prophet (Pbuh) regarding Salah? He said: "Between a man and shirk and kufr there stands his giving up prayer." ‎ Muslim.

Of what benefit is the prayer of a man who prays it lackadaisically?
We can spend hours chatting, speaking rapidly and unintelligibly without raising an eyebrow yet we complain of a ten minutes prayer?
If this is our lot, I'm afraid we need to practice the purification of the soul because the soul isn't comfortable standing and conversing with Allaah.

The prayer that we rush today has the potential of rescuing us and our progeny on the Day when the first deed to be examined will be Salah.

Hurayth ibn Qubaysah asked Abu Hurayrah to tell him a hadith he heard from the Prophet (Pbuh) so that he will benefit therefrom and He said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (Pbuh) say that the first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayer. If it is found sound, he will be successful, and if it is lacking in any way, he will be doomed." Reported by Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi.

Be conscious of Allaah and be mindful of your duties to Him. Don't hide under the pretext of any hadith to rush your Salah.

Without tranquility and humility there is no Salah.

Why the rush to terminate a spiritual conversation with Allaah when you can't run away from Allaah except to Him?
