1434th Annual Ramadan Convocation

In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

“Men whom neither trade nor business diverts from the remembrance of Allaah nor performing the Salah nor from giving the Zakat. They fear a Day when hearts and eyes will be overturned.” Q24:37

“Fast when you see it (the crescent) and stop fasting when you see it (the crescent.)” Bukhari and Muslim.‎

Human composition of professionalism from Wikipedia’s view revealed that, a professional is a person who is ‎engaged in a specified activity as one’s main paid occupation rather than as an amateur.

Whichever road human chooses to follow, in the same vain, maybe as a professional pious man, there’s an overwhelming need to engage in piety business at all times.‎

‎Simply drawing from journey of  several centuries back when institution of Ramadan was established, in the second year of Hijrah, about 1435 years ago, through the flawless divine injunction from Allaah (swt) with the noble Sahaba (RA) of the Prophet (Pbuh) been the first set to be matriculated.

The condition of enrollment into the institution both then and now still bond to Eeman (belief) with the expectation of graduating with Taqwa and Undoubtedly, the Sahabah (companions of the prophet (BPUH) who exercised diligence in this institution because they understood that enrollment was not graduation, even both when the head of the institution (Muhammed BPUH) was alive and after his demise.

Be it as it may, they were tutored and nurtured directly by the Prophet (Pbuh) hence they had their convocation from the institution of Ramadan with flying colors and Allaah chose them to serve His deen.

It is a known fact that he who graduates with flying colors stands the chance of being employed (at least in a sane society) by the best employee provided the grandaunt earns the qualifications legitimately.

The first set of grandaunts from the institution of Ramadan were brimming with piety and Allaah (swt) put a rubber stamp of legitimacy on their certificates when He says:

“Men whom neither trade nor business diverts from the remembrance of Allaah nor performing the Salah nor from giving the Zakat. They fear a Day when hearts and eyes will be overturned.” Q24:37

‎ At all times, they feared Allaah and never allowed the study and the training they went through during their stay in the institution of Ramadan to be futile. They led their lives as if every day was Ramadan.

Today marks the 1434th convocation ceremony of the institution of Ramadan and just as we have first class graduants with second class honors and third class honors in our worldly institutions so also are these accolades present in the institution of Ramadan.

For those that increased in their good deeds beyond expectations during their period of enrollment in the institution of Ramadan, we hope they have first class in piety and for those that performed on the average we hope they get second class honors in piety and for those that performed below average and expectation we hope their third class honors will spur them to act more piously to attract the mercy of Allaah.

This Eid convocation ceremony of Radaman 1436 Hijra, Muslims should enjoy the festive period but shouldn’t forget the victims of the insurgency especially those at Internal Displaced Persons camps(IDPs) and the gallant soldiers repelling the insurgents.‎

May Allaah spare our lives to witness more Ramadan convocation with excellent piety.
