The fault in our hope: President Buhari

In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

"....And whosoever relies upon Allaah-then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allaah will accomplish His purpose. Allaah has already set a measure for everything." Q65:3

"Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by (reason of) what the hands of people have earned so He (Allaah) may make them taste a part (the consequence of) what they have done, that perhaps they will return (by repenting and begging His Pardon)." Q30:41

Nigeria was on the brink of self destruction then Allaah rescued it perhaps largely due to the fact that majority of those that prayed for change were sincere in their dua and Allaah answers only the supplication of the sincere ones.‎
But something was missing or at least assumed to be missing. Those that prayed for change were overwhelmed by the need for change that they were sincere in asking for the agent of change which Allaah gave them (Buhari) but completely missed out in hoping for the change to come EXCLUSIVELY from the one in Whose Power and wisdom lies the change (Allaah).‎
There's Sabab (reasons, means) there's Musabbib (The controller of the means) and there's Musabbab (the effect, outcome). Problem arises when the means or reasons are taken to be the controller of the effect.
The agent of change is a means to change but the provider of change is Allaah.

Just as two people that have headache would take a medication (sabab) to cure the ailment and one will feel better (Musabbab) afterwards leaving the other with no result because the ability to cure does not lie in the medication but with Allaah (Musabbib) so also is our situation in Nigeria.

As sincere and honest as President Buhari is, if we don't come to terms with the fact that only Allaah can bring the needed change, we will keep slipping in corruption.‎

Millions were absolutely hopeful that General Muhammad Buhari will automatically bring the needed change to Nigeria and he was and still is seen as the rescuer of a nearly failed nation. As brilliant as the hope seems, it is grossly deficient because the proponents of this slogan wittingly or unwittingly have taken the Power of change from the Hands of Allaah and placed it on a mortal who is bound to err and his helpless unless being helped by Allaah.

Study what Umar (RA) was trying to avoid in the minds of the Muslims when he removed Khalid bin Waleed as the commander of the Muslim army...(they were relying more on the success coming from Khalid rather than from Allaah).‎

Once I had an argument with someone months before PMB was elected on my fears regarding how dependent millions were/are on Buhari as the ONLY Messiah of a nearly failed nation. My argument was simply from the point of view of Tawheed (singularity of worship to Allaah, hoping in Him and depending on Him Alone etc), that they have relegated Allaah to the tail end and have assumed that General is the provider of change.‎
I have had the privilege of sitting with President Buhari in his private living room to discuss issues affecting the country few years ago and I believe that I am one of his ardent supporters but when people think that automatically Nigeria will change because Buhari is the president and change is his lot then there's a fundamental issue because when what belongs to Allaah is attributed to His creation then we are bound to face problems.

No matter what, we must not only depend on our abilities, or on our integrity to effect the change we need rather we have to also appreciate that our abilities, integrity are a means and Allaah is the Sole Provider.

Things are falling apart, incessant bombings have resurfaced, our economy is dwindling, it will be wise to pause for a moment and recognise Allaah has the ONLY PROVIDER of change and ask Him to aid the agent of change (PMB) to achieve the needed change.

Stop saying PMB will change Nigeria rather ask Allaah to aid him in changing Nigeria.

Until and unless we strengthen our hope in Allaah instead of investing our hopes in individuals and cabinets, Allaah will leave us with those we depend on aside Him and we will never succeed.

We ask Allaah to rescue us from these ever increasing trials and tribulations.
We ask Allaah to help, aid and guide President Muhammadu Buhari and all our leaders.
We ask Allaah to set right our affairs in both the world.‎

I remain yours in Islam Abdullah Musa Abdul (Penabdul).‎
